    Msx150 still worth buying?

30 hours. Smokes while running. Mint shape otherwise.
Im mechanically inclined, what's it worth? Is it expensive to fix the common issues with these ? The plating and other things I read about?

Check compression. Most likely the motor is toast. Figure $1k-$2k for a motor rebuild ($500 replate, pistons, bearings, lots of gaskets, etc). Much more involved than rebuilding a 2 stroke. I might pay up to $500 for a mint machine with a bad motor, but not much more. You won't make any money rebuilding it, but if you want to ride it then it is a GREAT machine once sorted out.

+1. Not really worth the flip if thats what you are looking to do.

I am partial to the MSX hull. It's a lot of fun.

    I'd be buying to fix/ride.
It seems so much more complicated than 2 stroke but then I said that about Ficht and now that system doesn't scare me at all anymore.

There are numerous experts that can coach you through a rebuild. Not for the faint of heart though

Then in that case, parts can be had pretty cheap and there is a group of guys that have recently rebuilt a bunch of these.

I've got about 2 huge shelves worth of parts just waiting to be used...

I say pick it up can for 2k you'll have a solid 62mph ski.

From what I've been told, if you can rebuild a car engine, and you can work in small confined spaces bent over for extended periods of time, then it's a piece of cake to rebuild one. That said, I have not, and only going by what the weber wise ones have conveyed.
