    fx sho flushing and overheating

Hi I have a 2009 fx sho cruiser with 104hrs , today when flushing it I thought but found out after I was wrong I should flush it for 7 mins, after about 4min 30sec I went to turn the tap on to more power but must have turned it off.

about 2 mins later the ski shut down but no buzzers sounded , I immeidtaely went to turn off the hose. It actually turned it on(don't ask) I the unplugged the hose so I'm not too worried about water getting into engine when ski was off as it would have been 20sec max I'm more worried about the overheating the ski

has this happens to anyone before or any advoce

thanks I just registered here but been reading the site for years

2 mins is a long time with no water
Too late now if there is damage it's already done
All you can do is see if it starts and runs ok
With tap back on of course

thanks the reply I'm in Brisbane and had it down the Gold Coast today.

was going to put it in the Brisbane river tomorrow and see it all goes normally , you see any problems with that or is there anything I'd need to check first

is the engine shutting off a Yamaha feature ? It does say in the book when flushing of the engineshuts off turn off the tap immediately

    thanks the for the Reply

    You may have
Yamaha does drop revs if it overheats
    May have been what happened
The first sign of damage would be a blown head gasket
And it would most likely show up as water in the oil
    I'm also in Brisbane

Thanks for the reply i took it out on Brisbane river this morning and everything works perfectly , had a look at the oil but looks ok but I prob couldn't tell the difference anyway .

Is it worth taking to Yamaha in your opinion ?

    thanksn

To me these are a must. Saves from running back and forth to turn the water on and off and much easier to use. I ALWAYS wait to see water coming from the side pisser as well as the ride plate area.

You would know if there is water in the oil
    It will be milky white
