    Reattaching clamp to hull.

    2001 Genesis I

So I jumped a couple colossal waves and broke the clip right off the hull that the strap clips on to that holds the water box down onto the styrofoam.

I can't think of any way to firmly reattach that to the fiberglass and have it hold with the tension of the strap.

    Any ideas?

Is/was the clip riveted to the inner liner layer?

If yes, then drill another hole nearby and re-rivet.

No it wasn't riveted but glued with what seems to be a fiberglass based glue similar to what the hull itself is made of?
I don't know how thick the bottom of the hull is so not sure drilling holes in the bottom is a good idea?

The inner liner is the only thing that I would suggest drilling a hole and using a rivet. Not drilling into the outer hull itself.

I forget exactly what the waterbox mounting configuration is in the Genesis. Is there an alternate mounting point nearby, perhaps a jet pump bolt?

This isn't the battery mount (which also sucks in the Genesis), but rather the waterbox mount

Say, is the pump tunnel vertical wall close enough to drill and through-bolt the waterbox mount to?

    Attached pic

the clip was glued directly to the bottom of the hull under the water box
The one on the pump tunnel is still good.

    West Systems G-Flex could work

Give this a try to glue it back on. WEST SYSTEM
    G/flex 655-8 Epoxy Adhesive

Or probably even better would be a West fiberglass boat repair kit with the medium filler material. That mount will never come back off
