Best section of CT River for extended ride?

last warm day of the year likely coming tomorrow....I might take the day off to get the skis wet one last time. I was thinking of putting them in the river since the ocean water is getting a bit chilly...any recommendations as to what sections would be best for a fun extended ride?

years ago i would launch from haddam meadows and gone up to middletown and down to maybe deep river. The middletown NWZ is a bit much so I have never even tried to go through there. Should I? And continue going north? How far? Or should I go south? Put in somewhere else entirely?

Looking for open cruising, limited no wake zones, I assume the foliage will be pretty spectacular?

Put in at old saybrook and ride all the way to the bissell bridge in windsor, or vise versa. Gas in portland if you need it. The longest NWZ is going to be in middlwtown. Its not horrible though.

FWIW, I've got about 115 miles (round trip) of the CT River: http://www.pwctrailfinder.com/connecticut

Prob. nothing new to you but it may help you decide...

old saybrook public launch. ride up to seldons creek (nice side river that runs up north) run thru it ride up to hartford. you will need gas at some point. i rode from rocky hill to essex back to rocky hill and made it back with fumes in my tank. sorry for late response but maybe next year. seldons creek is nice, no traffic creek. its a nwz but when theres no one else in there u can rip it up
