    GP1200R engine transplant?

I have a 2002 GP1200R hull with a blown engine and I have two engines to choose from first one is a 1200 PV engine out of a 2004 XLT1200 the other one is a 2004 GP1300R engine ( PV ) will the 1300 bolt right in? I do not have all the electronics to run the fuel injection so I was thinking about using the carbs from the XLT ?

Forgot to mention you will have to do some drilling and install some fitting for the pulse lines to run carbs on the 1300. Also need to change the flywheel and stator cover.

You could also transplant the cylinders, pistons, and head from the 1300 onto the 1200 bottom end. You'd have pulse lines needed for the carbs without having to open the cases to make sure you don't have any shavings from the drill in the bottom. You'd also have the correct flywheel and stator already in place. You would guess you're going to have to rejet the carbs as well.

Yeah basically hybrid the 1300r with the 1200r.

Then you'll land up with a carb 1300r. U might as well increase the timing and shave the head for a really nice gp1300r non efi
