    .45/.40 vs my transom lay-up

I took my 40 & 45 out and used part of the transom cut-out for the out-drive as the victim.
The shots were from 15 feet away using std. load 165 & 240 gr. FMJ rounds, respectively. The 40 is a S&W M&(full size), and the 45 a 1911 (full size).

It did separate the 1.5 inches of ply and 2 more 4808sbehind these lay ups.
I thought for sure it'd penetrate much deeper, possibly through three glass but I was extremely wrong.
I think I'm better at this than I thought. ..

it's on the 'to do' list, will publish when I go do it.
The wife has me in the middle of a re-model, so its like pay-to-play.

Love those "honey do's", but a happy wife makes for a happy life!

The 9mm ball will go through it like a hot knife through butter! Bet!

Years ago I did a bullet test using a 5/8" thick kelver blanket firing to following into it:
    standard .22 LR
    158 gr. .38 cal./.357 mag
    147 gr. 9mm hydrostok
    165 gr. & 180 gr. .40 cal.
230gr. .45 cal. (ball and hydrostok)
    115 gr. 9mm ball

Only the 9mm ball defeated the kelver, passing through it completely.
