USB charge port on 2016 FZR

Good evening guys. I would like to put a usb charge port in my glove box so i want to charge up my Garmin virb or iPhone. I would think I would like it to be a switched source so it will not drain my battery if I leave it charging while the ski is not on. Dont know if it would drain the battery or not if I leave my phone or camera charging while the ski is not on. What would be the wire color I can tap into to get the power source? Anyone done this? I did one on my rxp but not sure on the FZR yet. Pics would be great I guess. Thanks and have a good day.

When I installed mine I did not put a switch in and I went directly to the battery with a inline fuse.Click image for larger version.

Ok. Do you have any problems if you are charging anything and it runs to battery down while the ski is off? I don't want to happen to forget that I have it plugged in while off the ski and run the risk of my battery draining.

Never have had problem. Never had the battery run down. Works great for a couple of phones. Phone don't draw squat for charging.

You could always tap into the bilge pump power
That way it will be switched with ignition

I just ran mine from the battery and put a switch in the glove box. Since I take the phone out when not on the ski i see the light on and turn it off. Mine has another display for the battery voltage also. Shows that the ski is charging when running. Works great. This way i can use the 12 cigarette outlet when the ski is off for whatever reason I want.

In my SUV conversion I opted for the cigarette lighter style plug as the USB version had an LED that stayed on, and I did not want to add a switch. It also allows a wider range of accessories.

The led doesn't draw enough to worry about.
