    Frustrated--Oil Pressure question

All, was out tinkering again and starting to get frustrated as I can't figure out why this thing won't run right.

    1. Starts and runs. I usually don't leave it running for longer than a few seconds as white smokes usually pours out while its running. oil level is in the middle of the stick. After running for a second of two the engine stumbles as well.
    2. I deduced I had oil problems, so I hooked a manual gauge up. Its at the top near the head. I have yet to read anything other than 0 psi; the gauge is brand new.
    3. I checked the oil pressure regulator and replaced the piston and cage; the spring was within tolerance. Torqued to 110 in-lb.
    4. I rebuilt both oil pumps when I dropped the motor in (its an sbt, yes, i get it, i'm new to this). I'm thinking this is where i'm wrong although they did not seem that difficult to rebuild...
    5. Compression test yields 150, 150, 120.

What's the logical place to start? Which pump would cause a zero reading? The pressure pump i'm guessing?

If I had it running and it indeed had 0 pressure, are the rings and pistons now trashed?

    Thanks for the help

rings and pistons don't get trashed, the bearings do. Does it sound correct when running? Something has to be major wrong to have zero oil pressure, even the wrong rocker shaft will still have some pressure. I would tear the entire engine down at this point. Expect to be disappointed in the sbt work by the way. How long ago did you install this engine?

it sounds okay until it stumbles about 3 seconds after firing it up. i have never heard a rxt engine, so i cant tell if there are subtle pitch differences. the engine is 6 months old, and it has been running maybe a grand total of 15 minutes.

how did you rebuild them? Were the housing trashed and gouged up?

Take a pic of where the oil pressure gage is hooked up.

Could be the plug in the head. Newer blocks and old heads had a restrictor. Sbt could have wrong head and block combo... no sure on what it would do to pressure
