SL900 dash always showing a speed reading ~20mph

    Hi,

I've got my SL900 dash off the ski as I had to clean/repair the LCD and also fix the buttons.

Now that the LCDs are readable again I can see that the speedometer is always showing a speed of 20-30mph, even when removed from the ski (external power) and the tube disconnected at the back.

I've seen someone else post on here with the same issue but I haven't seen anybody mention if there is a reason or fix? I haven't touched the two potentiometers on the circuit board.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The speedometer uses a pressure sensor/transducer mounted right behind the hose nipple on the rear of the MFD case. Inside the case is a multi-pin connector at the transducer which is wired to the main MFD circuit board. Sometimes that connector gets yanked or twisted when the case is opened up.

You would have to open up the case to inspect the wiring and transducer connector.

The problem could be the wiring, the transducer itself, or a problem on the circuit board.

I already have the case open. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the connector.
I guess there isn't really a known fix for this problem then and may as well leave it unplugged from the circuit board.

It is not a common problem you are reporting.

Typically when the MFD speedometer reading stays high or reads very low the problem is with the connected clear hose, either kinked, cracked or disconnected somewhere.

Does it change if you add pressure?

I have had a couple Polaris skis do this, sometimes it would stop after the ski was shut down & MFD turned off. Other times it would do it some days & others it didn't, it did not seem to affect the MFD when moving, I never worried about it, I never checked to see if it added hours to the display, it did add mileage to the trip meter.
