Will a 2004 Load Rite trailer fit 2016 FXHO?

With 7 ft bunks work with a 2016 FXHO.

What is the load weight rating for the trailer?

Are the springs heavily rusted or fatigued?

Is there enough frame length to allow the hull to sit fully on the bunks at the rear without the hull hitting the front frame area?

    single or double trailer?

Load rating for the trailer is 1550# trailer is 450# yamaha is 831#

The springs look ok although they were painted prior to me seeing them in the raw condition, no apparent sagging.

    Single Trailer/13 inch wheels/tires

From the end of the bunks to the bow stop is 136 Inches at the highest setting ..the ski would hang past bunks approx 4 inches and the bunks already are past the rear frame apprx. 4 inches.

That 831 pound ski weight is without fuel, oil or gear, correct?

Sounds like the trailer can hold the ski but it would be maxed out.

Does it matter where on the ski the bow stop meets the bow...can it be in the middle of the bow?

My advice is to have the bow roller as high as possible, just barely under the hull seam at the bow, and above the bow eye. Then have the winch strap run under the bow roller and pull forward and down on the bow eye.

Some winch towers have a separate guide roller for the winch strap below the bow roller. Run the strap under the guide roller then up to the bow eye.

The idea is that the bow roller right under the nose ridge prevents the hull front from bouncing downwards during rough trailer moments on the road. The winch strap angled tension from below the roller prevents the bow from bouncing upwards, and of course the winch strap also holds the hull from sliding rearwards.

Perhaps not as obvious, it is important that the hull be held in place to prevent forward hull motion during sudden hard stops from speed or a tow vehicle collision. You really want the hull to stay on the trailer, not slide forward.

If you position the bow roller lower on the hull then the hull can lurch forwards during hard stops or collision. The bow roller would provide a lifting force as the hull lurches forward, not what you want.

A secondary 'safety chain' is also recommended, but I prefer to use a retracting ratchet strap.
