    Gp1300 starter going out?

So it's been doing this a couple times this year. I go hit the start button and it just clicks once. I hit it a couple more times then it turns over. It sketches me out especially because I ride a lot of rivers. Does it seem like the starter, or solenoid? Or is it a combination 1 piece like cars? What kind of job is it to replace it? And if it is a crazy amount of work, are there any easy mods to install at the time?

It's usually the solenoid but the starter can do the same thing. The best way to check it is. Get a light tester or meter and put the ground to the tester on negative battery post and the positive tester lead to the starter wire at the starter. If you push the start button and hear the solenoid click and get no reading on the meter or light the solenoid is going bad.

If you hear the solenoid click and the meter or light shows power to the starter and the motor does not spin over the starter is going bad.

    Hope this helps.

replace the solenoid . it will solve the problem , the solenoid could click and not close the circuit due to wear on the contacts inside .
90% of the time , it's the solenoid at fault.

Kinda sorta. I now know that they are seperate. I have not looked at it at all. My problem is hard to diagnose as it is intermittent. I'll probably just change the solenoid and hope that works.

How old is your battery? I had a similar problem and a new battery solved it.If it tests ok, it's the solenoid as previously stated.
