    Ultra-300x Hood Hinge "Binding"

It seems the hinge on the front hood of my Ultra-300x is "binding" and it takes some effort to open and close the front hood.

The hood "shock absorber" is not the issue as that is new - and I also disconnected it from the lower mount just to be certain.

Hence, the friction seems to be isolated to this area here:

I have removed the black plastic end caps from both ends, lubed the shit out of the area with little improvement.

It seems that I must remove the entire assembly from the hull now - yet after it is removed - any recommendations concerning restoring the assembly to "normal functioning condition" - or you think it should be SC'd and replaced?

    Many Thanks !!!

it happens when you dont lube them and let them either sit open or closed for long periods of time. only way is to remove and dis assemble

wash with water first then lube, but i think its a bit like the pump liner, water gets between liner and the alloy and lifts it when it dries.

I've never had them apart, but if you are saying it still sticks even with lube then it probably had to be taken apart and the corrosion sanded down. I usually use a cookie on the air rotor if it's not a super important aluminium part like say a head. Send more pics, good luck..

Mine was under the boot, had rust on the just he end of the shock. Acted like the hinge. Sanded it a little and covered with lub. It's fine for now.
