    Yamalube vs amsoil

I have a 2003 gp1300. It's got a few mods including the D plate. I heard you should switch over to amsoil once you do this and I wanna know why and what could be some effects if I stick with yamalube.

It keeps the power valves clean and prevents them from sticking. If you run any full synthetic it will burn cleaner and will be fine. Lots of good oils out there you can run beside amsoil that are cheaper. You can also continue to run Yamalube just fine, make sure you pull the pv covers and clean the pvs as they will gunk up.

I just switched from Yamalube to Amsoil Interceptor and let me tell you, HUGE difference. Does the ski run any faster or anything like that? No, of course not. But it's definitely less smoky and I see a big difference in the plugs when I pull them out. No more gunk on the plugs. The Amsoil supposedly has detergents specially formulated for keeping the power valves clean. I also recently cleaned my power valves after years of Yamalube and they were absolutely caked with Yamalube gunk. It was nasty. I'll never run Yamalube ever again.

This seller has a 4 gallon pack of Yamalube for $62 plus $14 shipping. Best deal I found so far for guys who premix.

    https://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-LUB-10...A2AAS4KMPY7DS7

Description doesn't directly refer to 4 gallons, but I contacted the seller to confirm.

That's not a referral link- I'm not making any money if you click that, don't worry.

I switched to the amzoil interceptor oil. A lot less smoke and cheaper the yamalube if you become a preferred costomer. Interceptor oil is designed for power valve motors to keep them clean of the sludge you see with yamalube.

I switched to Royal Purple Max Cycle and my engine runs smoother, quieter and better performance. 60 reviews from motorcycle, ATV and other high Rev engines and they all say they will never switch from RP again! I have no smoke from our two SVHO's.
