Exactly right. And I'm in finance I don't sell intake grates and my FZR picked up nearly 1mph over stock intake grate and also handles much better with my Rd grate. Also comments about cavitation aren't true either in my opinion as I run a Solas prop and have no slip and it hooks up very nice and rips to 85mph. It is definitely the fastest grate!!

No, it doesn't fit your agenda. Please bring on the posts!!! You've already had d00m post that the R&D grate was faster on his ski and I know of countless others who run the R&D grate and claim it's faster.
Post before and after results otherwise saying R&D is faster is no different than me saying stock is fastest. This "hive mind" knowledge with no proof is bullshit. On rough/ocean/closed course? Sure there's more aggressive grates sold that help with hookup but also slow the ski down top end.

I could say the same about the stock grate with a solas prop. Zero cavitation, hooks up very nice up to 82mph.

You want more speed? Tune your ride plate.

At the landing now back to back testing R&D grate with my stock grate. This test is long overdue.

Okay just got back and tested my R&D grate right out the pack.
I first made several runs with the stock grate and pulled of consistent 83.3 mph runs.

I immedately swapped out the R&D grate and made consistent passes of 83.9 mph. Tried like hell, but could not get over the hump to 84 mph.

All in all, I'm pleased with .6 mph gain. The best part about it is I had a slight bounce with the stock grate. With the R&D grate the ski smoothed out completely.

I plan to smooth out some casting flaws on my R&D grate and maybe a little re shaping and expect well over 1 mph gain when done.

Out of the box Rd grates don't sit flat they're designed to be fitted (at least that's what I tell myself due to the rough casting). You'll get your 1mph. Thanks for testing! I'll add one to my shopping list

My testing was back to back stock versus RD with no tuning or fitting of anything just a simple swap. Picked up about the same as what Jerry just said. For how inexpensive it was I'd say you'd be stupid not to run one on your ski.
