Welcome
Is the drain plug missing from the rear of the hull? The older models had a rubber drain plug that was easy to misplace.
The modern solution is to install a captive drain plug.

Hello, I recently just got one of these plugs for my Polaris slx 780 1996, question, Is it just that simple to drill into the hull with those screws? Should I use any sealant after I make the holes for the screws with a drill bit? Didn’t wanna just blindly screw in stuff without researching proper things but not sure what to search honestly.

Yes, use a good below the water line silicone sealant on the screws and around the hole.
