Thread: What do I need?

    What do I need?

So, as I mentioned in another thread, looks like I'm picking up a new Ultra LX when I get back from my vacation in a couple of weeks. It's my first ski. My question is, what else do I need besides the ski and trailer? Obviously, I need some lines and a life vest but what else? Thinking a cover. Wondering if 3rd party covers are good enough as the Kawasaki ones are expensive.

What other accessories will make my life easier?

I'm also planning on putting a depth sounder on at some point this summer. Seems like a good idea.

    Thanks.

Here's a list that you can use with most idems just recommended and some a must..

    1) extra set of imobllizer key and extra lanyard stored somewhere on board (a must)
    2) tie down straps for rear eye hooks to trailer( ( a must)
    3) a chain and S hook fitted to front bow eye to trailer ( recommended)
    4) 2 boat ropes in storage comp(a must)
    5) orange distress flag or cloth in storage (recommended)
    6) basic tools will come with ski but should add a few more like clamps, zip ties duct tape (recommended)
    7) We assume you'll bring your cell ph make sure you put it in a Dry Pak(a must)
8 ) have the right clothing attire is essential if you ride in variable climates so wetsuit, pwc gloves , water shoes and good eyewear (reccommeded) that will stay on ..btw gloves and water shoes of somekind are a Must as it's the linear line between you and the slippery water..

Im sure other members will add to this list but remember to follow your Local States Boating Laws as you mentioned PFD vest, whistle, fire Ex etc....

And always check your fire extinguisher every time you ride. Expensive ticket if it leaks out. Has happened to me And I got checked and thought it was good.

    jetdave,Good List. I also use:

    1. Spray bottle of Vinegar and MicroFiber Cloths to wipe my skis down right after pulling them from the water. Lake water spots are **nasty** and very difficult to remove if your ski is gonna sun-bake a while.
    2. Small socket set along with all of other jetdave's tools.
    3. Extra pair of sunglasses, I've lost several unfortunately
    4. I keep sunscreen onboard as well
    5. Wheel Chocks http://tinyurl.com/hkmheoh
