Thread: 2016 vxr slow!!

    Kinda makes me wonder where the restriction is built in in the 2015 and up? 6-7 mph difference is quite a bit. Maybe the ECU? Hull design?

    I have hit 63 max so far in not ideal conditions at ~8 hours. A lot of things such as elevation, temperature, humidity, water conditions, rider proficiency... can add up. The difference in speed is because of the new hull and it seems to be more like 2-3 mph difference.

    Another user got 3 mph from Jim's cut ride plate and Jim stated they had seen gains of up to 3.4 mph. Its available in the store here as well as other goodies. Can also ribbon delete and air intake to up rpm a bit. As somewhat alluded to in that article, its possible that more motor could happen at some point.

    Basically, I'm seeing the exact same top end speed with both my 14 and 16 VXR's. Both are stock but the 14 gets out of the hole 1.5 skis faster and then it's dead even . I would never notice the difference if I'm not racing side by side.
    14=110hrs trouble free
    16=13hrs trouble free (except cracked drain plugs , dealer fixed)
    Here are the things which make me enjoy the 16 over the 14:
    Handle bar grips, ride system, much better in the chop and corners harder . Because I ride 95% in the ocean, very seldom am I at full throttle for any long length of time. The lakes around here are just boring to me and I usually only go if the tide is going to be low . I will mention that the 14 is a little more playful but not nearly as much as the GP1200 I use to own.

    Just hit 20 hours today. Still GPS'd 60-61 mph, even with just 1/4 tank of fuel. Still crossing my fingers to see 65 or 66 though.

    My '16 VXR has actually gotten slower! (I assume due to the humidity and hotter temps). My GPS now struggles to hit 60 in a full tuck with an almost empty tank. Depressing! This is with 25 hours.

    66 hours on my 2015 VXS it was 90+ very humid here in south florida over the weekend. On a flat calm lake I was hitting 63 with neutral trim, 1/2 tank of gas, and myself(200lb). Im pretty happy with it and my ski at WOT is at 7200rpm with the occasional extra bar to 7400ish but it only stays for a few seconds.
