First ride of the season, 2015 VXR

Put 7 more hours on the VXR this weekend. Rode with 2 Seadoo 215s and a 260 Wake. The 215s were a couple of mph faster on the top end, but I straight dogged them out of the hole. The 260 Wake was the slowest of the bunch. Both the 215s also had riders that were 60lbs lighter than me, and my ski was loaded with coolers, anchors, and assorted junk.

So at WOT the Seadoos were a hair faster on the top end....but I used 1.5 tanks of 87 octane gas all weekend to their 3 tanks of 93 octane! My ski is totally stock, no mods whatsoever. Im happy with it, lose some weight and a few hundred $$ in mods I think I can take em!

Nice! Sounds like you had a great time. I put some hours on mine as well. I love the VXR. I have the 2015 as well. Have you ever run 93 in it? How many hours are you at? I have always run 87 but I think I am going to try some 93 in it next time. I am doing a ribbon delete this week as well. Hoping to improve performance a little bit.

They sure are head turners. I have the yellow and black. I stripped it of the factory decals completely, looks so much better...

I just purchased a 2016 VXR. Extremely happy with the ski. Traded in a 2015 Kawasaki Ultra LX. Only thing I miss about the Kawi is the storage capacity.

You'll be more efficient but not by 50% Your tank is 2.6 gallons larger as well.

Yesterday, I ran my 2015 FX Cruiser HO bone stock. My friend has a Seadoo 215 w/supercharger. I was running 2 up (wife on the back) - probably 355 lbs of riders, the Seadoo 215 was just 1 person about 240 lbs. He was a little faster than us. He was showing 66 MPH, I was showing 64 MPH. That Seadoo sucks fuel like a Boeing 747. My FX will run 2 days on a tank of gas. I typically run 90 octane ethanol free. I haven't seen any 93 octaine ethanol free. BTW, the non-ethanol gas has been in my FX since October but it ran perfectly, started perfectly, I ran it down to the low fuel warning. I am a non-ethanol believer.

Comparing SC skis to NA in fuel efficiency is kinda silly.

Maybe not if you get similar performance from a non SC ski.

How much faster on the top end is FZR versus VRX? 2 Mph? Now find me someone who says VRX is as much of a blast to ride than a FZR.

There's more to it than just the couple miles on the top end.

Yep, $2900 retail as well as 87 octane. Figure in all the added maintenance and you can have your extra 2-3 mph. I've racked up over 100 hrs on my trouble free "14" VXR and every ride has given me a smile from ear to ear. This is why I just purchased a "16". Now, if your into competitive racing or want to be in the over 75 mph club it wouldn't be the ski for you.
