Mark the boat is really looking incredible. The testing ahead of you is where big gains will be found.Take your time and the results you are in search of will follow

I did for about 3 months and then wanted to build a turbo ski so here I am. I also just bought back my 2012 FX SHO so now I have a pair of them again lol. Do you still ride? Hit me up if you want.

Thanks brother. I just received my reprogrammed ecu from Bill this afternoon so hopefully I will get some video and good results this weekend. I know guys have been interested in seeing it run but didn't want to post any until it was running respectably.

Here is a video of a clean banana pass running about 80-81mph at 8650-8690rpm and 15.5-16lbs of boost with a 14-20 solas, stock 8 vein pump with the R&D cone no shims.

This past year I went to r&d 1000cc injectors and the r&d 340 lph pump and have been running it on 100 oct fuel at 20-22lbs and getting 84-86 mph consistently. I am still tinkering with props, cones and boost levels to see where i like it as an all around setup and so far, it feels like the turbo itself starts to level out around 23-24lbs as the gains in rpm and speed isnt as much as it is in the lower boost levels so the smaller turbo inlet and charge tubing may be close to being maxed out. The directions that came with the turbo said it was rated up to 30lbs but Im sure there are variables that come into play along the way such as intercooler size, charge tube diameter, cam timing and lift etc that will affect overall numbers but from personal experience, seat of the pants feel and gauges make me feel that anything much over 24lbs just makes more heat and i dont really see much improvement. I will get a second opinion in the spring to verify as I was going back and forth with a 13/20 and 15/23 prop at various boost levels. The 13/20 would spin 9100-9150 at 20-21lbs and would run 86-87 and the 15-23 would spin 8600-8650 at the same boost level and run 83-84 but always felt better all around as it loaded the motor harder and the boost would build sooner so it feels stronger and pulls harder in the mid range especially when trying to run in the chop. The 13/20 would rpm higher and I would see a little more speed but it felt lazier on the bottom and in the mid as it wouldn't load as hard so the boost didn't come on as hard and fast so it was more linear when comparing the two. I personally like the feel and power delivery the bigger pitch has even though I sacrafice a few mph. Its more fun for the type of riding I do. Maybe I will play with pitch and cones in the spring and see if i cant get it to spin 8800-8900 consistently and still have a good feel with little to no cavitation. I will also play with boost levels a little more and see where efficiency falls off enough where its not worth the extra 50-100 rpm to try and add 2-3lbs of boost which like i said earlier, that felt like that point was right around 23-24lbs somewhere but I also didnt play with it long at those levels as i was still dialing in the timing and fuel pressure to work with the new custom ecu tune so I was being conservative but I did do a couple quick 26-27lb passes and only saw about 100-150 rpm increase and like 1-2mph going from 24 to 26-27 where before i would see 200-250 rpm and about 2-3 mph going from 20-21lbs to 23-24lbs.

Really great info! I noticed also that every 4-5 psi that i increased boost, i gained about 900rpms with the 15/23 prop until I got to around 14 psi. I was looking to purchase a 13/20 prop to see where I would be with rpms/speed be you pretty much awnsered it for me. Did you try adding more than the 20-21 psi with the 15/23 to see how much more speed you would gain with whatever boost that brings it up to around 9100 rpms? I don't think going up to 24psi from 20-21 where you feeling it fall "flat" will bring your rpms up another 500.

Im running a 15/23 on 17psi and currently getting 82mph at just under 8200 rpms. im going to play with it this weekend to see how much more boost I need to get it to spin up to 8500 as im on stock retainers still. im sure my speed will go up also. 85mph is my goal

Sorry for the late reply, didn’t see the response until now. Funny thing, just returned home from a cruise to Bermuda lol. Just noticed your location on your profile. I did increase the boost to 25-26lbs from 21-22 lbs with the 15/23 and saw maybe 150-200 rpm gain and maybe 1-2mph. That’s what make me think that the intake system for this particular setup maxes efficiency out in the 22-24lb range as the added boost didn’t really do as much as it did in the lower boost levels but I did mention I would play with it again in the spring to confirm. I will start with a higher waste gate pressure and test that way in case the manual boost controller I am using isn’t responding to changes. Not sure how many clicks you can go before they max out either but with my waste gate set to 17lbs base pressure would see about 1lb of boost for every click up to about 22-23 and then it was 2 clicks to get to 24 and then 3 more to get to 25 and 5 more to 26lbs so I’m not sure if the intake system is nearing its max flow rate or if the manually boost controller only allows a specific range of adjustment and whether I maxed it out or not. I will have to look into that but I figure if I set the waste gate to 22lbs with the controller closed, I will know my answer pretty quickly if it was an intake system flow issue or the boost controller limiting the amount of pressure regulation.
