    Later Years Pump locating pins

Who has cut these off. They locate the newer style pumps, but are they really needed? I want to look at using the older style pump and they stop them from fitting. I don't want to drill holes in an old pump to make it the same as the newer ones. So has anybody fitted up old pumps to newer boats and cut these little locating lugs off.

Cutting them off will make aligning your motor more difficult in the future. They are also used by the alignment plate. I'd make sure your motor is where you want it before you cut them off.

Why don't you make a template and drill holes in the pump?

I may end up doing that anyway. The old models never had them and I am just wondering if I really need to keep them.
