99 xl 1200 questions
First I have way to many projects my wife says
Picked up 2 99 xl 1200s today $400 with one single trailer neither one runs. OK one ski the engine is apart all parts are there the guy ibgot it from said he was told it was over heating they thought
Pistons look good all the cylinders can still see the cross hatch hone in them. Is it possible that the over heat was the Exhaust if u put your hand in there u can move the cat around.
Sold i just order gaskets and the cat plate and put back together?
Not trying to fix this one just rob for what parts are needed

Worst case buy a crank if the bearings are shot and put it back together. those were 155hp and decent skis for a family and bring good value when working.

Ok I have ordered a complete gasket kit. Oil pump block off d plate with chip
Now do I need to rebuild carbs and change anything since the d plate add I have seen some say yes some say no
Best place to get the rebuild kit of I need it and also what to get to seal the crankcase I see so many different answers

You made a mistake , should have taken PTO coupler off and flywheel so you can change the crank seals !! You should rebuild the 44 Ibody carbs , keep oil pump..just replace the lines! Jerry sells rebuild kits and the 1.2 needle and seats here on forums .
