Damn that sucks. But its certainly better to be safe than getting half way there and feeling like you've made a huge mistake or worse. I planned a 1200 mile one way road trip last year and had to cancel the day before we were going to leave, when we finally went weeks later it rained so much we hardly had any riding time. At least you can still make the most of it and try again. I think part of the fun is the planning, once the trip was over I was bored. I'd spend every night on my computer going on every detail before we left.
