    Unsolved Cavitation Problem

After my friend was using my gtx, and thought they sucked something up, we have had major cavitation problems. We got the small piece out, but it still has cavitation, and the top speed is about 12 mph less. I took the jet pump off, and the impeller seems fine. I can't tell if the wear ring needs to be replaced. When spinning the impeller around, the black rubber ring in the pictures seems to rub a little. If anyone has any advice on where to go from here that would be great.

    Thanks

I had the same issue not long ago and redid the liner in mine and everything is back to normal. Looking at your pictures yours liner is wore out. When i installed a new one in mine the prop was just skimming the surface of the liner. there pretty inexpensive. Also mine had a seal (neoprene) between the the boat and pump be sure and replace that.

Your wear ring is goooone by a long margin. The clearance between impeller and wear ring should be a fraction of a mm, I'm guessing yours has 2-3mm, replace.

Edit, also ..is the wear uneven or is it just me?

thats a 2 stroke pump. Make sure you remove the retaining screw on the top and bottom of the pump before trying to remove the wear ring....
