Oops, I fed my ski a paper towel :(

Yes, you read it right, I fed my RXP a paper tower, by accident of course.

Couple weeks ago I was doing some work on the bellows and had the charger intake hose off. As usual, I stuck a paper towel in the both the charger inlet and the intake box. Later on after putting things back together and running the ski I realized I wasn't sure if I had removed the paper towel from the intake box outlet.

Fast-forward to today, I was checking slip and decided to pull the charger outlet hose ..what do I find there, finely meshed paper residue on the walls of the hose and throttle body arrrr. I'm assuming my intercooler is covered in the same paper residue.

I switched to solas 14/19 at the same time the ski had the meal and lost 500 RPM from stock impeller. So now I'm not sure how much of the RPM loss is due to the solas vs the paper crap in the intercooler.


I'm guessing I need to pull the intercooler and clean it. Is it just the two hoses going into it and a clamp that hold it in place? That's lake water in those hoses not coolant right?

Yes lake water. Pull the IC and clean it best you can.

I had a boss that accidentally had his thumb sucked into a turbo on a Detroit 60. Needless to say there wasn't much left of his thumb up to the first joint. Inside piping and intercooler looked like pink sand throughout. Oh,it was a new turbo...was.

Lol it was just for fun. Can always delete it or remove it. An inside joke of how life is in the nuclear world. Procedures, procedures, procedures..... As an FME Supervisor I thought it was funny atleast....
