    GP1200r cavition issue

    Hi,

I have an 01 Gp1200 and off the line it revs up to almost 8k and is slow to take off, I figure its either the seal or the impellor / housing is worn. should their be any space between the impellor and the housing? what usually wears down first the impellor blades or the housing? I have a couple pics, best I could get. Im just keeping it easy on take off and plan to fix it in the off season. does that seem like enough space between the impellor and housing to cause this big of an issue?

Doesn't look like impeller clearance to the housing is causing your problem. I think max clearance is supposed to be .020. Check the leading edge of your impeller for small piece of debris stuck on the edge

This is the exit side. Can you look at or send some photos of at the intake side?

Remove the intake grate and check clearance with a feeler gauge. .010-.020. Service limit .024. That will tell you for sure.

looking at the leading edge of the impeller, it looks bent and nick up. that can do it!

Intake grate is fine and clear. not loose, and not chip or gouged.
