Only 7500 rpm on 2010 RXT-X 260 with no errors codes

Ski used to run awesome, but last time out it was spurting and not running right and only able to be between 6000/7000 rpms. I changed the plugs and it now runs better, but am only able to get 7500rpm out of if it instead of the 8k I was getting before. Any ideas where to start? Prop and wear ring look good.

If the wear ring or impeller is worn, rpm would be ok or higher with a loss of speed. Have you checked SC clutch slippage?

I was thinking that since I would have less resistance. I was more worried I had something tangled in the jet at first. I have not check the SC slippage. I will have to research how to do that.

Overall the ski even in sport mode just is doggy. It doesn't pull hard of the water and accelerates slowly up to RPM. It was a rocket before. Ski has 86 hours on it. I wonder if something got wet when I put it in the water with out putting in the plugs and then put them in after I parked the truck and was done chatting with someone at the landing.

That reminds me it is time to put a Bilge in my machines.

Found this for my RXPX, now I need to find a good one for the RXTX.

I have not looked at it. Is there something I should look at?

Probably a boost leak or SC is slipping. Take the seat off and start it. Does it sound louder?

Not sure on boost leak. I will have to do some looking. I have not had to deal with those issues since I had my 1993 Toyota MR2 turbo. I thought that was tight quarters until I look inside this.

I saw people have issues with IC's. Could that be it?

2010 model has the better intercooler. Check that the funnel inside the air box is all the way down into the rubber hose that goes into the supercharger. If it's not in the rubber hose will collapse as the supercharger starts sucking large volumes of air, making it hard for the motor to make boost and run like shit. I had similar problems like you described when I left mine out. It's a design unique to the 2010 model.

Thank you! I checked that and it seems to be in there all the way. I started it up and it doesn't seem to louder at all. I got this week to figure it out before I am out of town for work and then up at the lake the week after.

When I start it up it doesn't sound any louder.
