2000 GTI, No start, just nothing....
Hello all. I have a 2000 Seadoo GTI carb. It was running, now no start...When I put on the DESS lanyard, there was two short beeps, thats good. Then there was a long series of short beeps. Sounded like continous series of short beeps. It was very faint. Thought maybe my battery was going dead. Put a fresh charged battery in, now nothing. No beeps, start button does nothing. Im sure the battery is good. Any ideas where to start? Thanks.

Check the 5 amp fuse on the MPEM first and see what you have for voltage on each leg of the fuse, if the fuse is good and no voltage check your connector on the mag housing as that's where the ground for the MPEM is coming from.

I put a new MPEM in, still same problem. Put DESS key on and it had a very weak beep beep. Then nothing. Wont even beep. I tested speaker. It works fine. Ground to mag housing is good also.
On the new MPEM. pulled 5 amp fues. 12v on one side 0 volts on other. Any ideas?Last edited by Harsax13; 08-06-2015 at 01:45 PM.

First thing I would do at this point is bench test the module, (actually that's the next step before buying a replacement) but still a good idea at this point to see where the problem lies.

You mean bench test the MPEM? I just opened up the back box with the starter solenoid. When it was moving it around the starter kicked in for a second and it beeped. Looks like water fot in this box. I will look around in there for next step.

There's a 15 amp fuse in that rear e-box that supplies power to the MPEM on spade 1-26 (red and purple wire)

That was it! The 15 amp fuse was not blown, but it was corroded on one side. Put in a new fuse and it fires up!. Water got in the box. I sparyed everything with WD-40 and made sure the cover was on proper this time. Thanks for the help WL. You da man.

another water in the rear box failure....
very very common.
make SURE you get the triple lipped gasket set correctly, it does NOT go in the lid!..it goes on the box itself and then the lid fits over it. You can feel it air seal right before the tabs click in.
clean that shizz really good and spray the entire thing down with wd-40..ANY moisture in there as you might guess is a huge problem.
carful with the gasket..its $25!
most are jammed up in the lid and need a little finessing to get out undamaged.
