i ordered the new parts and when i received them i saw i had to purchase a special tool also. so i said lets try and cut the old nipple off and tap the housing for a brass nipple.

i cut the old nipple off had plenty of meat left on the housing so i tapped it and put new nipple on with marine epoxy. so far so good no problems since. i would try that first it takes an hour the other way you have to move the engine forward.

Let me look for it tonight when I get home. It will be reasonable. (I'm out west and get home around 6-ish) I will take a pic also.
I do not know what they want new but it would be about 50% of that, less if they want stupid $$ lol.

Between this and the little cooling log under the intake its getting expensive to maintain the older kawi's. The prices were stupid last time I looked.

How can you say it's getting expensive to maintain.
These 2 parts are cheap as shit
Less than $80 for the project
Less than $100 for the log
If that's considered dear for parts that are a ONCE IN a life time replacement items.....then your in the wrong sport...
I think it's more like people are to lazy to check out a OEM priced part and want everything for free.....

I replaced this same part on a 260 @ the dealership for a customer and wow do things add up quick , engine was removed and you gotta remove the coupler , some gotta get heated to break the thread lock and seals also gotta get replaced easily over 1k to fix.

The parts were around $40 a few years ago Waz, while $100 isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things the price has gone up a lot for what they are. To put it in perspective, the ferrea valves I have were $18 a valve a few years ago and now are $28 or something.

I assume you mean a barbed brass pipe nipple and not the newer Kawi fitting or plain pipe nipple?
