BBQ Run ... Sat 7/25

A few of us are riding the Upper Hudson. Catskill to the first lock in Troy, NY.

Leave Catskill at 11 AM. (103 Main St., Catskill, NY) Lunch at Albany River Front Bar & Grill, on the river.
_Update: BBQ Doesn't have a dock.

Round Trip should be ~80 miles so splash-and-go at Albany YC.

-All are welcome.

I wish I knew. Just got back a little while ago from Poughkeepsie to Catskill. I would love to explore further north. I promised my daughter we'd go to Candlewood and swim tomorrow. I would have swapped rides.

Candlewood is a real pisser and you'll have a ball. (worst belly flop I ever saw was on C'wood)
-also worst T-storm I ever rode in. (if it wasn't for the lightning I wouldn't see anything)

For those that ride the lower Hudson ... It's totally unlike that. This 40'ish mile stretch of water is awesome flat water running!
-The river is surrounded by long stretches of camping beaches. (no reservation, just pull up and camp...not accessible from land).
-Fuel is available at Albany Yacht Club and Troy Muni. (Troy is where you park for BBQ)
-Troy Muni has free parking for many boats/skis and quick walk to BBQ (nice and solid with plastic floats against the skis)
-BBQ place is great (top food, trucker-cans of Labat's, super fast service)


The total trip is about 90 miles -including exploring, going diff sides of islands, and some dummy driving into a storm pipe

The tunnel in Albany is nowhere near that cool.

I think this would make a great Fall run. Newburgh to Troy is just too far for my old ass (200 miles RT)
