GP1200r - What are corect turns out for a STOCK carb needle adjuster settings?

For GP1200r's, We all know the "aftermarket" high and low speed carb needle adjuster settings...

How about for a stock ski? I have never found a spec in service manual and have always set them to whatever I find them at - after removing the tamper proof caps for cleaning.

As I recall, the last set was about 1 turn on lows, 1.25 out on the highs.

The concern always is, if you hit the screw with the drill, it'll lean out the mixture...

Probably worth members weighing in on their recollection, in case the factory as-built setting gets inadvertently changed.

    1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lows, 1 3/4 to 2 highs. Per 2fast4u.

That's a start! Is that person Tommy Jordan. I realize he's certainly considered an expert.

Do those settings differ from how the factory sets them up?

Given that the values of the early carbed GPR's are dropping, not everyone wants to invest in aftermarket flame arrestors, etc..

You can gut your air box and run a 4inch flame arrestor on the air box opening. You would remove all of the intake tubing.

Those are stock settings. I used them in my 00 gpr until I modded the carbs.

What specifically are "Those"? What did you run?

Those settings are the as built settings, from the yamaha factory. Do not run aftermarket FA'S with those settings. Very lean.

Thanks. I'm very well versed in the F/A scenario.

Since the factory service manual does not give a spec... we're left with as-built setting that we find when we tear them apart.

The one I did the other day for a customer was set leaner than 2fast4u's settings and I put it back the way I found it.

I thought this would be a good topic for the forum, since the older GPR's have dropped so much in value, many peeps don't want to run the "Recipe" with it's cost...and I have modified plenty.

I just bought everything for mine as per the "recipe". I paid 452 bucks, but I bought everything including exhaust gaskets, extended length mixture screws, the whole ball of wax! I really hope this ski runs as good as they say they do with the rejetted carbs! For a bare minimum I think its about 310 through Atlantic jet sports for the necessary parts
