Rebuilt pump and changed oil now she reclines at 6400?

What gives? I had it running at 7100 a week ago then the pump bearings failed. After limping it home, I changed the oil, filter, and rebuilt the pump. Did a test hit today and it ran up to 6400. It also died after I launched and was waiting for my vehicle driver to walk down. Did not restart for 5 minutes? No warning lights.... Started it again and ran fine up to 6400 until I killed it. Then refused to start until I got it back to the house. Limp mode states it is in the intake? Kinda lost here. Tightened all hose clamps when I got home. One was a little under spec. Will do another test hit tomorrow AM. Please advise

    Check compression first.

When you say it would not restart... describe this more. So the ski is in the water when this happens, right? You hit the starter... and it just cranks and cranks... but won't start??

If so... try this. Find a shallow place where you can stand next to the ski. Lift/tip the left side as high as you can with one hand while triggering the start button with the other. (for safety, attach lanyard to yourself)

My ski... when it had low compression... like the 90-110 range compression... would have a hard time starting in the water. Tip the ski up high on the left side... and the exhaust outlet comes out of the water... which reduces exhaust back-pressure on the engine as it attempts to start. Always worked for me... would start right up when doing this. But it was hard to do in the middle of the lake!

I'd be curious if this works for you. If so... suspect your compression.

    Cheers!

The ski starts on land fine. Put it in the water and it just laid down on me. Took it out of the water, started it, then killed it. Put it in water and it ran fine? So i thought. Got past the no wake zone and it would only get up to 6400. I did take the hoses from the inter cooler to intake off last week. And also the hoses from the compressor to the inter cooler as well.

    ETB Relearn procedure:
    Engine off
    - insert lanyard
    - tap start button... but do NOT start engine... just wake system up... should hear the fuel pump hum and ETB click
    - slowly squeeze throttle trigger to full... pause 2 secs
    - slowly release trigger to zero... pause 2 secs
    - repeat twice more
    - pull lanyard out
    - wait a few minutes

This will remap the ETB throttle sweep in the ECU.
This needs done when you replace the ECU or ETB.

    Cheers!
