Intake "screen" removal
I've done somewhat of a search of a few pages to no avail. On a 2015 RXP is it possible to remove the screen without having to cut open the manifold? Wondering if it's accessible by removing the throttle body?

The screen you refer to is called a flame arrestor! The easiest and simplest way to do this is purchase Rivas kit from the online store. The end cap supplied then allows for easy boost connections in the future. The no cost way involves removing the TB and digging, cutting, and cussing the FA out with very long needle nose pliers and a dandelion removal tool, or long sharp blade tool. It takes about 1.5-2 hours and lots of frustration at times, but many of us have done it. You then need to clean out and blow out the mess you created inside very very thoroughly.

Ok. Thanks! Trying to keep it from looking mod'd. That "spark arrestor" looks more like an inner filter of a dual element air filter set up. Lol

every new watercraft must have a spark/flame arrestor per the US coast guard
its a joke because in no way will it do anything on a modern fuel injected motor
typical government practice to enforce outdated requirements
removing the intake is not a hard job
but, cleaning up the mess inside it after hacking on the arestor is a pain in the buttLast edited by skidoochris; 07-15-2015 at 09:11 PM.

Man.. shit can happen hey.. fuel spilt in the hull... starter spark when you start the engine.. Anything. bad earth spark? you will be pulling the seat out of your ass and broken spine
my boss at work had two new out board motors put on his off shore fishing boat.. few weeks later he was doing some soldering with a portable gas soldering iron.. laying on the floor in the boat and soldering some wires down the back, it went up. the fuel tank below the floor went up, put him in the lake and his poor mrs who was standing on top of them has lost a leg and badly damaged the other. lucky his kids was sitting on the shore playing the ipad. im guessing its there incase shit happens i guess. limit any source of any ignition.
