gtx sending unit problem (not reading correct)

Im having a problem with the fuel sender in my 05 gtx 4 tec.
The fuel level works until 1/2 tank and stays a 3 bars I got stuck on the gulf and the coast guard had to locate me in the dark so I could get towed home.
I took the pump /sender out and tested it, I sanded the bars lightly to clean them and also re bent the arms to make better contact and its the same.
I want to buy a new sender but it seems I need the pump and all for a $5.00 electrical sender switch.
Is there any way to buy just the switch or should I look for a bad pump to remove another old sensor?

IMO just find a good used unit (all the same to 07)
then of course upgrade to a walbro pump

That would mean I need to buy 2 pumps.
Guess I need to buy a cheap used pump for the sender if I can find one fast or pay up for a new pump that I want to upgrade.

Think the sender is good, the ohms are correct and seems to function fine so is it possible I have another problem in the gauge?
it reads fine until the level reaches the last 3 bars then stops and reads the same even when the tanks empty.
I hate to put it back together like this, it sucks going out on the gulf and guessing.
