Any recommended GPS units for accurate speed on water?

Just curious what are the recommended GPS units to gather accurate mph? Are the units waterproof? Do you use other functions of the GPS unit besides accurate speed measurement?

Just curious if I need one.....as a ski newbie.

    Thanks!

Just about any modern GPS can be highly accurate for speed.

Some GPS units are quicker at responding to speed changes and less likely to display spurious readings.

The key with any GPS is to mount the unit where it has a clear view of the sky, not just straight up but in a broad zone in all directions. Your body will block GPS satellite signals, as will metal.

The CANDooPro GPS only works with the MSX displays, no other Polaris model.

Yes.....just leery on taking my iPhone out on the lake. Thinking about picking up a used GPS off of eBay or something similar.

I have had good luck with the GPS apps on my phone as well. You could throw the phone in a zip lock and tape it to your bar pad.

They sell floating waterproof cases for iphones. Or dry-bags with clear sides, which is what I use.
