2006 RXP cavitating with a full tank of fuel?

    Hello,

New here. I read a lot of the posts on cavitation and the people seem to be having different reasons why their doo is cavitating. Yesterday my buddy rode it off and on all day while I was in the pontoon boat and he said it was fine but the tank was only half full when he started. He even doubled a few of the girls that were in the boat with me. I filled the doo full this morning and immediately it started cavitating and the motor seemed very hot. I had no alarms. The unit struggled to get above the water and would run fine at half throttle. If I opened it up the tach would jump to 8250 and wouldn't go over 40mph on the speedo. There is no water in the hull and I pulled it out of the water to check for clogging and there was nothing. The impeller looked great with no dings. The doo stays in the shallow water all the time. Now I'm a bigger guy. 230 pounds. I don't think that should matter too much. Oh and the previous owner put in Riva washer kit in the SC and there is 126 hours on the unit. I read on another post that I should replaced these parts:

    271001434 Support Ring
    271001433 C-Clip
    293300107 O-Rings
    271001420 Carbon Ring
    271001422 Bellow

I was thinking on ordering those parts as well as a anti-cavitation cone too. Am I on the right track?

I didn't get a chance to measure it (will check it next weekend). Was leaving the cabin after I did my checks. The pump seal has never been changed. Nor has the bellow, carbon ring or the support ring.

a good pump seal makes a big improvement
the r&d hd seal IMO is worth the extra $$

So can the extra weight of the fuel and my big butt cause it to cavitate? It has never done it when there is half a tank for full. I'll look at getting the r&d seal too.

no, more load on the ski should lug more not spin more
I can pull a tube on mine and not cavitate

Now I'm confused. This just started today after I filled it. I guess it's just a coincidence. Looks like a huge job. I'll order the parts and impeller tool this week and hopefully I can getting it working properly.

If you are going that far with repairs, a new impeller and wear ring is a small add that may be the whole problem-- I would have them on my list.

Great! Any specific impeller you would go with? Factory or Solas or ?

So I think I have the list of what I need:

    271001434 Support Ring
    271001433 C-Clip
    293300107 O-Rings
    271001420 Carbon Ring
    271001422 Bellow
    267000105 Wear Ring

and a new impeller, R&D ultimate pump seal and an anti-cavitation cone.

Am I missing anything? Or are some of those parts I listed I don't need?

Check your engine mounts. If the rears are broken, It will torque over to one side under acceleration & suck air from the thecarbon seal being misaligned temporarily

Do u wave /Wake jump with it?
