Freedom 700 Engine RPM Strange between 4000 - 5000 RPM / Top Speed?

    Hi All,

So I have an RPM Gauge installed on my Freedom 700 and I cant hold a steady RPM anywhere between 4000-5000 RPM... I cant hold it at 4500 RPM at all. Not too sure what this issue could be, or even if it is an issue? Even when I towed my friends SeaDoo when my engine was semi cold I noticed at the 4000 RPM limit the engine was bogging down about to stall so I went slow.

When I got over the 5000 RPM which isn't a problem I read 6600 RPM MAX with a top speed of 78KPH and the ski seems to run perfect. Does anyone know what the top end RPM should be? I can't find it in the specs but the top speeds seems to be correct of 78KPH?

Also we were doing wake boarding with a rider and spotter on the ski and me on the wakeboard no problem but the engine did seem to slightly bogg down between the 4000-5000RPM.

Im going to guess that is the RPM range where the engine comes "on the pipe" and it normal.

Typical on the water sustained RPM at wide open throttle should be right around 6600 to maybe 6800 RPM depending on air temperature, jet pump load, etc.

Perhaps being semi cold was a factor, but at 4000 RPM the engine should not feel like it is 'about to stall'.

I don't work much with the carb engines but there may be something not quite right with the carburetor jetting for the mid-range?
