    AFR value and setup R&D CAM GEAR on VRX 2012

    Hi my friends !

    Today i try my AEM AFR Gauge and the result is :

    between 12,9 and 12,6 at 5000rpm
    between 12,6 and 12,4 at 6500rpm
    between 12,4 and 12,1 at 7500rpm
    between 12,1 and 11,8 at 8200rpm


    a little too much fuel at full rpm, but it’s a good news for next step ( instal gear cam ) ?

    This week or next week i want instal my R&D cam gear on my 2012 VXR , but i want yours advices for the best setup .

    Actually i fight 8280 for 74mph , and i use only fuel pump .

    What is for you the best setup for me ?


    The S1 cam stetting is designed for recreational offshore riders or racers who want to run in the 7800-7900 rpm range running the R&D R1 or R2 ECU. This LSA cam setting will work well to add a noticeable bottom and mid range increase. The S1 setting will work well for extreme long wide open riding conditions typically found in offshore racing. The S1 setting will not change the overall LSA by advancing the intake cam 2 degrees (opening the intake valve earlier) because the exhaust cam has been retarded 2 degrees also. Intake vacuum will remain the same as stock, therefore still maintaining a great idle. Fuel Octane Range will be 89-91.

    The S2 cam stetting is designed for recreational offshore riders or racers who want to in the 7900-8000 rpm range running the R&D R1 or R2 ECU. This cam setting will work well to add a noticeable increase in overall power with added mid range and a slight top end increase over S1 by adding approximately 50 plus rpm’s to the existing RPM range. The S2 setting will work well for long wide open riding conditions typically found in offshore racing. The S2 setting will change the LSA from 111.25 to 112.75 degrees by advancing the intake cam 2 degrees and retarding the exhaust cam 5 degrees. Fuel Octane Range will be 89-91 with R1 and R2 ECU Programs, and 91-93 with the R3 ECU Program for best peak performance. The S2 cam gear setting,R3 ECU Program, and 91 octane Chevron Techron pump gasoline were used to win the N.A. division overall in the Mark Hahn 300 mile endurance race

    The S3 cam stetting is designed for offshore or all out top speed situations running in the 8100-8300 rpm range running the R&D R3 ECU. This cam setting will work to increase upper mid range and top end by adding approximately 150-200 rpm’s to existing RPM range. Fuel octane Range will be 91-93 octane for R1 and R2, and100 octane fuel such as 100LL Aviation fuel for R3 ECU Programs. NOTE. R&D recommends the use of the R3 ECU with this cam gear setting. The S3 LSA setting will result in reduced vacuum at idle, and increased compression, therefore, R&D recommends 100LL Aviation Fuel.


    If i use the S3 setting with fuel pump , what is the risk ? For you what is the best setting for increase top speed with my setup ?

    Hi guys !

    today i ran with S2 setting R&D CAM GEAR , and the middle range was incredible !!!! but il lost 150rpm ( today 8050rpm and usually 8200 ) and 1mph ...

    this is a detail of R&D setup :

    SUGGESTED LSA SETTING CHART
    VXR/VXS
    Intake Cam Lobe Center Exhaust Cam Lobe Center LSA Average
    ST° STOCK = 114° LC STOCK = 108.5° LC 111.25° LSA
    S1 2A = 112° LC 2R = 110.5° LC 111.25° LSA
    S2 2A = 112° LC 5R = 113.5° LC 112.75° LSA
    S3 5A = 109° LC STOCK = 108.5° LC 108.75° LSA

    what is your advice if i want increase my rpm and top speed ?
    -install S3 setup ( only fuel pump for me ) ?
    -or create a new setup for fuel pump :
    S2-1 2A = 112° LC STOCK = 108.5° LC 110.25° LSA ?

    Try the s-2 by advancing the intake and put the exhaust back to stock timing do not retard it.

    ok , for try S2 Custom 2A = 112° LC STOCK = 108.5° LC 110.25° LSA

    For you S3 setup ( R&D recommends 100LL Aviation Fuel ) with 95 fuel pump is no good ?

    i give you news my friends !

    this week-end i try my 88,5mm nozzle ( yesterday i use 77mm stock nozzle , no my usual setup with my 12/16 ) ...

    but i can say you that yesterday i punished two KAWA 310X whit my little red VXR ( very fat punishment ) , but i lost 1mph of my top speed , only 73mph ...

    on the other side my AFR value is no good ; tow rich ( 11,5 at 8000rpm whit this setup cam )
