    First Ride in Salt Water

I'm going to be riding in salt water for the first time. I primarily ride in fresh, so what precautions do i need to take. I know with the closed look system no salt water will be interacting with the engine. I was told to spray RPX anti corrosion spray on the engine so if salt water should get into the engine compartment it will not harm it. Can you be more specific on how and where to apply it? is it just an even spray over everything, or just select parts? thanks for the help.

I almost always get some salt water on the engine after a day's use, )..... After the engine cools some I rinse it off with salt away or equivalent. Before taking it out I will spray with WD-40 or CRC...not every time, maybe every third time out, spray it well...

I prefer Seadoo XPS or LANOX (not INOX) and about once a month or so, I spray the entire engine compartment...everything.

After every ride, I thoroughly rinse the entire ski, including the engine compartment with fresh water.

3-4 times a year, I'll buy a can of WD-40 Big Blast and spray the entire trailer.

Also for yourself make sure you got a pair of goggles. Salt water splashing in your eyes over and over can end your day early.

Spraying the engine with XPS (or equivalent) won't smoke when hot?

Hasn't for me. I usually spray it down the day after a ride once the engine has cooled and dried. On subsequent rides, there is no smoking evident.

Do you need to connect a hose and flush with salt-away as well?

Sheesh I'm tired of salt water fears. I've been riding salt for 15 and have had no problems. You just have to flush it after every use, rinse out the entire engine bay and anywhere else you can get the hose to spray and wash it. Then before you go out again hose everything inside down with XPS. The only thing that may get corroded is the sacraficial anodes and that's their job.
