2005 GP1300R acceleration issue
When WOT out of the hole it lags for a bit around 4-5K RPM for 5-10 seconds and then rips to full throttle. Not sure what the issue is but I am linking to a video I just took to diagnose it. The sound of the motor should help (I think). Appreciate any advice and guidance on the issue!
Thanks
Mike

have you done the basic? check or replace plugs , make sure they are gap correctly ,get a ohm meter and ohm the plug wires i'm just giving you ideas where to start , it very well could be something else. long time ago had a similar issue on a 1200r and it was a bad plug wire.

Hey Mike,
I am back up and running this season (finally got em in the water). Can you offer any guidance on how to properly check the resistance on the spark plug wires? I have a multi meter, just not sure what results are normal. What other electrical systems can I test while I'm out there plugging around?
Thanks!
Mike

Check compression on all cylinders first. Be sure all cylinders are equal on compression, no more than 10 psi verance. A low compression will cause a bog prior to a 2 strole motor coming up to the power band.

What is the proper PSI (aside from the 10psi variance).
Edit: I found this answer:

I am going to check the compression and resistance on spark plug wires this week but I wanted to add some info that my be helpful in diagnosing the issue.
When the pump comes out of the water, either wave jumping or steering hard back and fourth, you can get the engine to jump straight into the power band. It also does not hesitate at all on land when flushing.

I checked the compression and got 110,115,114. I think I'm all good there.
I have a multi-meter but I don't know how to remove the spark plug wires. Can anyone please advise? I found the correct resistances in the service manual but I just need help removing the leads from the electrical box.
Thanks
Mike

unbolt the electrical box from the battery box and remove the battery box , turn over the electrical box and remove all the bolts on the back , you will be able to remove the boot from the coil and test your wires , while you there ohm the coils , primary and secondary circuits.
one more thing , have you rode the ski w/o the seat and look at the pv valves to make sure they are working? do they cycle when turn the ski off ?Last edited by mikegp; 07-06-2016 at 01:04 PM.

They are regular nuts in a retaining clip. Just unscrew them as they stay...
