2014 310x vs. 2015 310r
looking to trade in the 2011 300x, found a left over 14 310x for 11k or should i go with a 2015 310R ? what are the main differences ? Will there be a problem with the 14 ECU ? i'd like to save some cash and go for the 14 but dont want lack luster performance because of the potential ecu problem. Thanks Chris

The only difference will be the Handlebar set up between the two models you note here. That's a good price for the 2014 . . . I would get that one.
As for the 2014 ECU, I would ride the Ski first and see what it does. It should hold steady @ 7700 RPM. If the RPM drops down to 7400 ish, then I would ask the Dealer to get a 2015 ECU. It takes about 5 minutes to switch out, not a big deal.
I did put a 2015 ECU in my 2014 310X early on. . . it's been a great Ski. JB

I checked everything i could, replaced plugs, checked exhaust filter, cleaned IC, checked fuel pump output, everything checked out fine, blocked off the blow off valve and gained back some boost and 100 rpms, ski is now running 7,650 and 68-69 strong as ever. still feel its down 150 rpms and 1 or 2 mph, but it does have 160 hrs.

nobody had a left over 14 nearby, have to go to a dealer out of town, if i get a bum ecu having it replaced could end up being a nightmare of travel and dealer visits that i really dont want to deal with.

or you can reflash it to fix the problem, cheaper than getting a new 2015 and reflash will remove traction control and speed limiter.

Be certain to check what Kawasaki is offering as Incentives to the Dealerships - namely they are NOW offering a "Summer Sales Event" - which translates to savings for you - the consumer.
Reference:
http://www.kawasaki.com/ShoppingTool...HomePageBucket
2014 Ultra-310R = $1,500 off
2014 Ultra-310X = $1,500 off
2015 Ultra-310R = $1,000 off
2015 Ultra-310X = $1,000 off
Some dealerships will be discrete about this - and it is in your best interest to negotiate up a deal and then after you "beat them down" - spring this extra savings on them.
Good Luck !!!
PS - Maybe it's better to wait for the 2016's as rumor has it that next year Kawasaki is gonna release the Kawasaki Ultra-350xxx an 1850cc Supercharged, Intercooled, Fuel Injected Beast
