    Need some advice on SLTH

    I have a 98 SLTH 700 twin that might just have had its last ride.

    I installed the update kit 3 years ago when I bought the ski. It has run great since...until last Monday. After running great all day Sunday, it died Monday morning during a ride. No spark. I have tried many tests to get a spark, but no success. Based on a post by K447,

    Two and Three cylinder 700, 900 & 1050 engines, pre-2000 (except 1999 Genesis & SLTX-B/X-45)

    Stator coil ohm tests;
    Black to engine ground: less than 1.0 ohms, should be very close to 0.0 ohms
    Black to Purple: 1200 ohms
    Black to Gray: 88 or 140 ohms
    Yellow to Red/Purple: 0.75 ohms
    Yellow or Red/Purple to engine block: no connection/infinite


    Based on the tests found here for the updated stator, cdi, and coil pack, it looks like both the CDI and stator are bad. The test on YELLOW to RED/PURPLE which should have a resistance of .75 ohms, gives 75k ohms on my meter.

    I am selling this ski as soon as possible. My question is...

    1) should I replace the updated kit with another ($600) to sell a running ski, or...
    2) sell it as is for a lot less $$$ ?

    Any input is welcome.

    If you have the ability and patience to do it, parting it out might be a good way to go. You might be able to sell the engine and driveline parts for a price that would approximate the value of the whole ski in a non-running condition. If this is the route you take, just be prepared to deal with (throw away) some leftover parts, especially the hull as these hardly ever sell by themselves. I would not be purchasing an ignition update kit just for the purpose of reselling the ski.

    That's what I'm thinking. Wife agrees with you too.

    How much would it be worth in its current condition? I could part it out, but don't want to spend that much time and energy.

    Is $600 too much to ask including the trailer?

    That seems reasonable, especially if it is in acceptable cosmetic condition.
