Mystery regarding Viper Red (Please chime in!)

Ok folks, we have a mysterious issue regarding Viper Red here.

I recently made a set of "Viper Red" registration numbers for DaveC's 2014 Seadoo RXT-X and have a question. Let me preface my question by stating that I have a 2010 RXT-X and a 2013 GTX Limited that both have "Viper Red" trim. I have also made several sets of decals for other people in Viper Red that say it matched.

Now here's my question. He sent me a picture today of the Viper Red reg numbers on his 2014 RXT-X and they don't appear to match his ski so I am wondering if there are multiple variants of Viper Red over the years? Before you ask, no Dave and I are not in disagreement and I will make sure he is happy but we cannot figure out what the deal is so we can get Dave what he needs.

No, I did not send him a different red vinyl (I don't even have another red vinyl that could have gotten mixed up.)

Dave, just for grins and giggles, can you shoot a video of the vinyl and the ski? I think pic you posted may be affected by the lighting.

it almost looks like his has faded but doesn't that stuff have a 5 to 7 year lifespan?

I sent it to him about 3 days ago so there would be no fading at all. Also, I dont even have an orange vinyl at my shop to accidentally send him the wrong vinyl. Most everything we do is digitally printed but I special ordered this red just to match Seadoo Viper Red for folks.

Well it appears that there is a new Viper Red for 2014.

I think the 2010 was DRAGON Red. I just traded my 2010 for a 2015. The dealer had both of them on a tandem trailer side by side and there was a definite difference in tint. The 2010 looked good until they put it next to the 2015. The red just pops. I think there's a touch of orange in it.
