2015 Yamaha SVHO Timing Chain Snapped - Help Please

Our 2015 SVHO has suffered the 'catastrophic' event of the timing chain snapping. From my limited understanding of engines and the information we've been given, i'm pretty sure it's the equivalent of a grenade going off inside the engine! I'd be interested to know if there's others out there with a 2015 SVHO and this has happened? On Saturday evening it's simply died whilst out on the Blackwater and of course wouldn't start. The list of damage the snapping of the chain has caused is extensive. We are both really upset, Stuart bought the 2015 ski April 2nd, this replaced the 2014 ski we bought 9th July 2014 to which the paint started peeling off the hull in under four weeks. Not really having much luck are we?! If anyone has had any experience with the above, please let me know? I'm reading more and more about the SVHO engine having timing chain issues, any help or advice would be much appreciated.

take it in for warranty. If you have friends working there as mechanics, you may be able to have them hand you a spare chain to send to get cryo treated. Sorry to hear :/

Bought a new FX Cruiser SVHO at the beginning of August this year, cam chain failed after 19 hours, I ran it in as instructed and treated it really well..... It took nearly 4 weeks to get it fixed as they couldn't source a couple of exhaust gaskets for ages, it had a complete new head assembly...
It was running well for the last 5 weeks since being fixed then it went again today after a further 20.9 hours use ....
I have just heard that the 2016 model, although being exactly the same as the 2015, has had some design changes around the timing chain area..... funny that !!!!!
Hoping to get a 2016 engine or new ski as a warranty replacement... We shall see !!!

Its no picnic getting yamaha to honor their warranty on these chronically breaking timing chain svho yamaha waverunners. They will try to do the least they can possibly do, as cheaply as they can do it.....and part of cost cutting measures is that it takes the entire summer and spring....4-6 months to fix! Probably they will force the dealer to reuse substandard parts....they tried to get my dealer to reuse the head studs, which are stretch bolts. My newish motor would have been ruined.

the failures are not the result of bad chains.....its an engineering issue that has now been corrected in the 2016 engine........you need the updated design or it will simply fail again

They do now. And they change the clutch oil bolt to the newer design.
