Question Can low battery cause reduced RPM?

Last time out my RXP ran fine to 80xx rpm, between the last ride and today I changed wear ring since it was cavitating at launch.

Today first time out since wear ring I couldn't get over 7500rpm. I did get a 12-volt low warning and P0562 code, forgot to give the battery a boost before going out.

Should I be looking at something else or can low voltage code put the ski into some kind of limp mode?

    Thanks

Battery definitely not getting charged as I see 11.5V while running.

30AMP fuses up front look good, that electrical area is very clean with zero corrosion of any kind.

Stator test passed ohm reading at 0.4 - 0.5 on all three wires and running AC test was 22V on all of them.

I'm guessing voltage regulator is toast, anything else I should look at before buying one?

unlike the starter...it's always just the regulator.

always pays to have a spare too. can make the difference between getting home and paddling home

to fully confirm disconnect the black/red leads ( assuming it isn't the one piece connector) and measure voltage across that at idle. I would expect it to be zero

I'd say it's really safe to pop for a regulator.

Be warned that you do get what you pay for, so I'd stay away from those low end regulators on ebay.

Also make sure the battery is fully charged before you replace the regulator.

Charging exhausted/poor condition batteries is what kills them off.

Installed a new voltage regulator and it seems to be charging again. Did a quick test with ski off battery was 12.3 and 12.9 while idling.

Giving the battery a trickle charge now to bring it back to full health.

Sooo glad it wasn't the stator
