    SCOM or ECU Reflash?

SCOM is $250. R&D R1 Reflash is $675. Should I just put the $250 for the SCOM towards the reflash and go straight to that? My ski is 100% stock right now and am looking to do my 1st stage of mods. Does the R&D reflash take away the speed limiter just like the SCOM (but also do more)? Is the R1 reflash Yamaha-warranty friendly?

How do they know it's been reflashed? Somebody on here said Dean let's you keep stock ECU? If that's true couldn't you just swap the stock ECU back in before taking it to the dealer?

I keep my skiis for years (still have my 07' FX) so what I would do is a scom if anything. After the 5 year warranty is up I buy whatever riva package is out there, usually it is cheaper and mods have changed over the 5 years. The SVHO will be the first ski that I have ever had that will have enough speed forever, kind of like a person in the 60's buying a muscle car (just the creature comforts will change).

If something is sold today that is a "must have" don't wait. Chances are by the time you're ready to mod in a couple years it will be discontinued.

Like the FZ Riva mirror block offs? Don't expect those to be around forever.

Don't waste your money on an SCOM. The R&D Flash offers so much more than limiter removal.

How does that affect the logged hours in the ECU when compared to the hours on the instrument cluster?
