I have a 1996 SLTX. Have had it since new. 1050 motor messed up after 20 years of great service due to a leaking water line.

Found a 2000 SLX for a great price so I took the entire motor, harness, CDI box even the trim motor out and installed in the SLTX

I was reading some comments by other forum members that the stock ignition map for the SLX may be too aggressive for the weight of the SLTX especially under a 3 person load. I typically don't ride 3 people and when I do it is a tame ride. Now I do go for some WOT runs by myself though . I also only run premium along with Polaris Gold synthetic in my motors.

What is your opinion? Think I will have an issue if I leave it as is? I also have the CDI from the 1996 1050 SLTX

    Thanks!

You are fine, all the 1200s used the same CDI in 2000, no issues, but make sure you verify your timing!!! it should be 23 degrees @ 3,000 RPM if its a 4010379 CDI. this is very important.
