Supercharger query

Hey guys,
Was just putting a kanaflex intake on my 2014 Fzs svho and noticed the charger shaft will not spin either way. It was fine last time out. Ski has been sitting for 4 weeks since. When I start the ski charger spins fine and I have boost. It does stop almost instantly when I shut the ski down. Was thinking possibly a clutch on its way out? If so this will be the second one in 20 hours. Charger has riva gen 3 shaft kit. Any thoughts on this?

Check to make sure you're housing isn't separating.

Good thinking! What's involved in that? Removing the charger and undoing the 6 bolts to split the charger to inspect?

Just look into the housing you will be able to see the seem where the pieces press together.

Thanks for the link. I tried to have a look with the charger on the ski but no good lol. I will remove it tomorrow and have a look. I figure if I try to spin the idler gear with the charger off that should tell me if I have a clutch issue or if it spins fine then the problem lies in the charger.

While you have it apart, drill and tap it and put a small screw in so it cannot separate in the future.

If you're clutch. Has gone the wheel will spin both ways! If it doesn't there isn't anything wrong with it

Not always I believe. In this thread this clutch would not spin either way and was broken.

Pull it, inspect. Once the charger is off you'll know if its the clutch or charger.

Clutches have locked up in the past. No good can come from the sc wheel stopping suddenly at 10,000-80,000 rpm!

Pulled the supercharger off and that is fine. Idler gear is locked up solid tho. Time for its 3rd clutch. Got less than 20 hrs out of this one....
