STX-R Vibration Loss Thrust - last try!

    Hi all

So i posted about this a while ago, it is a very strange one as the problem went and now it had come back again.

To give a bit of back ground stones have been sucked up a couple times but always got them out fine.

The ski started vibrating under load (seems to idle fine) turned it off and on and it was fine again.

Took it out tonight and its vibrating again with little power, vibrating feels like its coming from the rear end. It's vibrating through the ski. Checked the pump and grate and nothing in there - runs cool and fine on the hose.

    Do i try;

Something as silly as spark plugs?

    Pump bearing?

Or jump straight to pump housing / impeller?

Not sure where to start as i'm not the best mechanically and don't have the money for the local shop, so i need to give it a go myself. I've searched for some guides but can't find anything

Any help really will be appreciated!

    Thank you

    John

Also, worth mentioning it felt like something slid from mid engine to the back of the ski THEN the vibration started!

Vibration usually indicates trash in the pump or damaged blades.

Try a fresh set of spark plugs, cheap and easy before pulling the pump. But it sounds like Steve said to be pump related.
If you are not confident in pulling the pump, (understandable) then see if anyone in your area can help you out. What your looking for is blade damage, signs of impeller hitting, roughness when you rotate the pump, or for and aft play in the bearings.

I recommended in the last post you had on this issue, pull the pump and inspect!

Sounds like a pump issue. Easy to pull the pump out and inspect. My ultra was on 6 bolts and it came right out. I rebuilt my pump this season and glad I did as it just started to show a slight seal leakage.

I wouldn't pull the pump, I'd inspect it. Look for damaged blades, pieces of wood, fishing line, candy wrappers, etc. Check the sealant around the pump and pump shoe.
