PWC Database for Basic Info to help decision makers--Needs your input!
So I see a lot people stop in here and ask general questions when looking to purchase. I know that is what brought me here.
The questions tend to be the same, so I thought I'd make a basic spreadsheet database to answer these questions.
I put each model year in its own tab.
I pulled models from NADA. I assume that is accurate enough and a complete listing of that years models.
I listed them in alphbetical order K, S, Y.....so no favoritism.
I tried to think of common things people ask.
How many will it sit. Whats a good price for it. How fast will it go. etc.
I have made this spreadsheet editable. I am obviously no expert on all this info, so feel free to help me fill up the database.
PLEASE BE OBJECTIVE and REALISTIC. No need for SeaPoo comments or the like. On top speed of a VXR stock, don't put 78MPH. etc.
On each model, I am going to link it to its webpage on PersonalWatercraft.com (unless someone can give me a better general info website)
For each models NADA value, I am going to link it to its NADA page.
I only went back to 2008, but obiously more tabs can be made for all years.
Here is the page...let me know what you think. Ideas/comments/suggestions.
I made it using Google Docs, which practically everyone should have.

Wow. I thought this would get a better response.
Maybe it's not such a great idea.

I think it is a great idea too, especially the Known Issues section. Prospective buyers DESERVE to know the real problems with each model before they purchase it (used and new). The problem is that current owners often get too loyal and defensive to be honest about the issues with the particular ski they happen to own. I have thought of doing something like this myself to help prospective buyers make a decision they will not later regret.
Good idea, I like it.

Yeah, man. We're not always the best at encouraging stuff around here. Shucks, I look at JetSki Brian's fishing and photography threads all the time and am impressed every time. Yet I hardly ever comment. So, just 'cause we ain't saying nothing don't mean we ain't looking...

One thing you could add is fuel consumption.

I took a break from this and then forgot.
Was thinking a database would be good though. When looking at the Seadoo website...you answer a few questions and it gives you a ski recommendation.
Would be cool if members here could answer a series of questions and an app or program gives them a few recommendations, a fair market value and other info.
I'll try and start working on this again in my down time.
