Question OK where are the engine swap smartys? changing the engine in my 2003 gtx

OK guys.. i thought i had it all under control but some bloke got in my ear today saying my new engine is going to go bang!
Let me set the scene, I have a 2003 sc gtx. engine is dead. spun a main bearing. so everything is stuffed.
Found a good 2007 block and thought i could machine my crank.. but my cranks bent too. so need a crank. well ended up having a mate that has lots of parts and a dona 2011 255 4tec.

So we ended up with the following
    2007 block and case
2003 head with 2003 cam, New valves and guides, riva retainers and the 255 springs.
    2011 rocker shaft
2011 forged pistons and matching con rods.
    2011 crank shaft
2011 PTO cover to match the crank. (Kept the mag and other goodies from the 2011 bolted on)
2003 oil seperator (front pump with 2003 solinoid and case presure sensor)
2003 inlet and exhaust manifold and injectors
    2003 harness
    2003 185hp ecu
    2007 215hp fuel presure reg
2003 185hp charger (but installed the 16 tooth gear to make it 215hp)
will have a external cooler mounted on.

So anyways the questions i have are as follows.

The 2011 PTO has the newer style timing sensor, can i just splice the 2 wires into a new plug and connect it to the 2003 harness?

I know i should be running the 215hp ecu but can i run the 185 ecu with the lower rpm just to run it in?

Will the 185hp or 215hp ecu run with this 2011 crank and pto? everything plugs in except the crank sensor i will splice.

what else should i be expecting? more information the better guys.
    Thanks
    Steve

needs the 03-05 pto cover and the cup rotated to match the 03-05 crank location-- this will be bolt holes + a little extra. No splicing.

Hmmm well the 2003-05 pto cover is no good. engine is already in ski.. and cup? bolts?

The crank sensor marks are different on the 2011 crank. He is saying you would have to rotate the toothed wheel and run a 2005 pto housing. Let me know if you need a pto I have one laying around from a 2003 gtx supercharged with no oil squirted for the supercharger so you would have to update that.

I agree with Jim, run a 03-05 cover with the mag wheel rotated.

Other than you need a 215 ECU in the future I can't fosee a problem.

why cant i use the 2011 pto cover with the 2011 crank? i know the timing pin has changed position but so has the pick up position on the pto cover.. so why else wouldnt it work? kosh, you know much about these things?

The crank pick up and sensor are matched to the pto, if you had a 04-05 crank in your ski I would agree but you don't you have a 06 up crank and pto. Remember the pin is located in a different location is what you need to keep matched.

I might have misread, but assumed 2011 crank with 2011 timing chopper wheel and 2011 PTO, has to work? All your doing is moving the sensor outside the engine and as a matched pair into a different location.

arrrhhg!.. im thinking the same thing kosh but just sat down and had a read of the seadoo tecnical books from 2004 up to 2010..

in a few places it talks about seadoo long block service parts , Putting a newer 2007-and up in older skis.

    States ;
    2005 and Older Engines
The new long block will also work on 2005 and older models, but a 2006 ECM must be used for the
    following reasons:
    – CPS (Crankshaft position sensor) is in a different location and its resistance changed. Therefore the ECM uses a different logic.
    – Oil Pressure Switch (OPS) has reverse logic.
    – Oil Separator Pressure Switch (OSPS) and TOPS (Tip over protection solenoid) have been eliminated.

But i still got the OSPS and TOPS still on the ski, i do have the older style and new style oil pressure switch so thats not big deal but this freaking logic shit..? ANYONE ever tried running newer engine on old PRE 2006 ecu?
    Thoughts?
